Enjoying Time Outside

BEACHES
There are two beaches that our guests can use; the small bay beach across the street and the larger neighborhood beach on the other side of the point.
BAY BEACH
Currently (Spring 2019), the bay is very high, and the water is lapping the rocks at the bottom of the stairs that you see in the picture here. When the water is high like this, we usually sit on the grassy bank above or on the flat rock slabs in our Adirondack chairs or beach chairs. You can wade and swim here, and it’s nice for kayaking because it is usually calmer and shallow for quite a ways out. The bay beach side is where you can see the sunrise - beautiful from the guest balcony especially if the bay is calm.
NEIGHBORHOOD BEACH
To get to the larger neighborhood beach, just walk around Lakeside Blvd as it curves and goes along the park, until you get to the Beach Access sign, then turn right down the path to the stairs. See the path on the map. We love to put our chairs in one of the coves along the beach to the right of the stairs as they often have shade part of the day and feel a little private.

The neighborhood beach side is also where you can see the sunset, and many of our residents make it a daily event. Here is the view from our Pulpit Rock Access point- a favorite sunset spot, as is the top of the stairs to the neighborhood beach.

 CHAIRS
Our guests are welcome to use any of our beach chairs, which are hanging on the back of our white shed. Guests are also welcome to use the white Adirondack chairs that may be found in our driveway, or may be across the street on the grass.
BEACH EQUIPMENT
We have 3 kayaks, paddles, and lifejackets for guests to use. The kayaks are usually stored on the back of the shed and need to be carried across the street to the lake. We will help get you set up with everything you need and give you a short tutorial if you’d like.

We have a number of beach floats, large and small, that guests are welcome to use. Some may be already inflated- in that case, they will be hanging on the shed. If you want a smaller/larger one, we would be happy to show you our collection, and inflate whichever you would like to use.

TOWELS
We provide a towel, washcloth, and beach towel for each guest in a basket in our guest room. Additional bath towels and washcloths are always available- just let one of us know.

If you would like another beach towel, and we are not around to ask, feel free to take one from the stack of towels located on the lower shelf in the washer/dryer area. It is behind the blue & white curtain in the kitchen by the back door.

FIRE PIT
Guests are welcome to use our fire pit and wood to make fires on the grass across the street. We have fire starters and a lighter, as well as s’mores sticks. We ask that you let us help you get it set up, but we can certainly do that in advance if we do not plan to be home in the evening, so just let us know that it might be a possibility and we will make sure you are all set. Our neighborhood does not allow fires when it is windy. We will also supply a water bucket for safety and you can use it to put out the fire at the end of the evening.
HOT TUB
We have an outdoor hot tub on our back deck that our guests may use. If you wish to use it, just uncover it. To do this, you lift the hydraulic bar by giving it a little tug- it should raise up by itself. Then, fold the cover to the right, and slide it into the bars. Then, push the bar of the lift down.

You may want to use the outside shower before or after, which you are welcome to do. We ask that you dry off a bit before coming inside.

When you are done, just put the cover back on by first giving the hydraulic lift a little tug. When it comes up, just pull the cover over and open it up to cover the tub.

HAMMOCKS
Feel free! If you want to move it, you can lift the end up that is opposite the wheels and wheel it by pushing or pulling. It can feel a bit awkward, so we are also happy to help. Or just drag it…
