About Our Home
WIFI / INTERNET DETAILS
The house has Wi-Fi. The details are in the room. The service is provided, but you are responsible for safe and appropriate use and complying with all laws. If there is any loss of service, please contact us.
GUEST SPACES
Our guest room includes a bedroom with private living room space, as well as a desk area. The guest room also has a private deck. Although it is not an en suite, guests have their own bathroom, which is just a few steps away from the guest bedroom.

The downstairs bathroom, outside shower, hot tub and deck areas are shared spaces, but can be used by guests.

Breakfast is provided on the breakfast bar, and guests can help themselves. Guests are welcome in the kitchen to prepare breakfast, get drinks, and to store perishables in the fridge as needed.

BREAKFAST
We will prepare the coffee pot each night and start the coffee at about 7:45 each morning. If you would like to get an earlier start, it is fine for you to plug in the percolator yourself- that’s all you have to do to start it up. If you are a tea drinker, feel free to use the kettle. The dial for the smaller front burner is the one to the left in front of the burners. A variety of teas can be found on the counter, along with different types of sweeteners. Creamers are on the left side of the fridge, in the lower door compartment/shelf.

We also include a variety of continental breakfast fixings, such as oatmeal, muffins, bagels, yogurt, cereal, and fruit. Cereal and oatmeal packets are in the candy bins on the breakfast bar, and milk is on the left side of the fridge, in the lower door compartment/shelf. Muffins and bagels are on the cake plate, and breakfast bars are in the glass canister on the breakfast bar. Fruit, spreads, and yogurt for guests are on the top right shelf of the fridge.

Flatware should be out for you on the breakfast bar, but if you need any additional spoons, forks, or knives, they are in the top drawer to the left of the stove. Above that, you will find paper towels.

If you let me know your preferences ahead of time, I will try to accommodate you and your family.
DECKS/DINING
There is a deck off the guest bedroom that is exclusively for guests to use. There are chairs and a sectional sofa on the upper deck, and cushions can be found in the deck box. The larger cushions for the sofa in the guest room behind the sofa.

Please feel to breakfast wherever you would like, inside at our ‘dining room’ table, breakfast bar, or outside on the front decks- wherever you feel comfortable.
WINDOWS/BREEZE
The two side windows and the French doors can be opened for a breeze in the guest room, but the two front windows cannot. We occasionally have some harsh northeaster storms and we have caulked those two windows shut to prevent leakage.

We provide guests with a fan, which you are free to move around as you would like using the extension cord. We usually have a nice breeze, but there are a few nights each summer where we have found that a fan is necessary.  The fan can be set at 3 speeds and can be set to oscillate as well. You can also choose to have it shut off automatically after a certain number of hours.

HEATING
Our home has a wall heating unit downstairs, and an electric baseboard heating system upstairs. We do not use it in the summer, but if you are visiting in the fall, winter, or spring, we will go through it with you upon arrival.

You will find the control on the wall to the left of the guest room door as you face the hall. It is slow to heat up, but with the door closed, it can get too warm at night. We recommend setting the dial straight to the left (at 9 o’clock) to start and then going warmer if need be. The lower end of the ‘comfort zone’ setting usually keeps the place sufficiently warm.

RECYCLING & TRASH
We do not have a garbage disposal, but we do compost. If you would like to, feel free to put any plant material in our kitchen compost canister- the chrome one to the left of the sink.

We recycle just about anything metal, glass, or plastic.  You can just leave it on the blue and white cabinet by the back door in the kitchen. Paper recycling can be found there as well.

You can leave trash in the bins in the guest room or guest bathroom, but please leave any trash containing food in the kitchen trash bin.
